LME & COMEX Benchmark Prices
The London Metal Exchange (LME) and New York COMEX set global benchmark prices for copper, aluminum, lead, nickel and zinc. Pakistan's local scrap rates move in direct proportion to these international prices. When LME copper rises by $200/ton, local rates adjust by approximately ₨ 30–50/kg.
USD / PKR Exchange Rate
All international metals are priced in US dollars. A weaker Pakistani Rupee means higher local prices in PKR even if international prices stay flat. Since 2022, significant PKR depreciation has been a major driver of rising scrap rates in Pakistan.
China's Industrial Demand

The copper (Millberry grade) scrap price today in Karachi is approximately ₨1,550–1,700 per kilogram for clean, uncoated bare bright copper wire. Lower grades such as insulated wire or mixed copper fetch ₨900–1,150/kg. Rates are updated daily based on LME international benchmarks and the current USD/PKR exchange rate. Millberry grade copper is bare bright copper wire with no insulation, coating, plating or attached material. It has a bright reddish-orange color, bends without breaking, and does not attract a magnet. Any oxidation (green or black discoloration), coating, or mixed material reduces the grade and therefore the price. Our team tests purity on-site using calibrated equipment.
Urban King Services arranges doorstep pickup from 10 kg minimum for residential sellers. For industrial and commercial quantities, the minimum is 50 kg. The LME (London Metal Exchange) price is for Grade A pure refined metal, traded in large certified lots. Local scrap prices are lower because: (1) scrap has mixed purity, not 99.99% Grade A; (2) the USD/PKR exchange rate adds conversion cost; (3) processing and recycling costs are applied; (4) dealer operating margins are included. HMS 1 (Heavy Melting Steel 1) consists of clean steel scrap with thickness of 6mm or more — including structural steel, beams, I-beams and heavy machinery parts. HMS 2 includes thinner steel, mixed iron, light gauge sheet and some rusted or coated material. HMS is typically blended 80% HMS1 and 20% HMS2 for export pricing. HMS1 commands higher rates than HMS2.
Aluminum is non-ferrous and non-magnetic — a magnet will not stick to it at all. It is lightweight (much lighter than steel), silver-grey in color, and does not rust (though it oxidizes with a white powder coating). Common aluminum scrap includes window frames, engine parts, rims, cooking pots, and cable sheathing. 6063 alloy extrusion (window profiles) is the highest grade.
